Christmas Eve Eve

Yep, Christmas is only 2 days away! I've started the holiday baking, (fudge and sugar cookies) and am getting ready to dip pretzels (in chocolate, of course)! This means that I'm going to be gaining A LOT of weight... at least that's that I'm going to try to avoid doing! I have had a couple pieces of fudge, that were yummy! and I'm sure I'll "Snack" myself to death. I did weigh myself this morning and I'm staying steady at 247. I'm really hoping not to gain more than 5 lbs, so I guess I'll be doing a lot of walking in addition to eating!

Here's to hoping for the best!

Week 3

Well I skipped writing last week, not that it was a bad week, but I was really busy and didn't get time to write. I did step on the scale and I had lost 1 pound! I stepped on the scale yesterday and it hadn't moved... which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but not good for sure. I haven't been too bad either, I think I'm just eating a lot more than I need to, but it's not all chocolate and cookies. Christmas is in 1 week, so hopefully I won't go overboard eating then, even though I'm sure I will.... chocolate covered pretzels, 8 different sides, and 3 different pies... I'm sure I will need to start the diet right after all the food is gone!

Weight- 246

Day 1

I'm starting a little later than I wanted, but I'm still starting and that's all that matters! I got on the scale yesterday, and I've gained more weight now than I did when I was pregnant! That's scary and kind of pisses me off! It makes me want to lose weight, I just wish I could do it over night, but that's not how it works! I've also decided that I am going to start cooking out of my Weight Watchers books. I have 5 different books and I am going to start cooking out of them every day; kind of like Julie & Julia but with healthy recipes! Hopefully they will all taste good and Chris will not notice a difference. The good thing is that I also have lots of dessert recipes so hopefully it'll hit my sweet tooth teeth.

So here are the stats:
Weight- 247 pounds
Size- 20

We'll see next week how things are going! Wish me luck!!!

Happy Thanksgiving

Well, I started my "life-changing" diet Monday morning and by Monday afternoon I had given up. We hadn't been to the grocery store in a while so we had no food. We then went to the store and missed dinner, so we had to go out to eat. I then gave up even more on Tuesday while I was doing my baking and had to taste everything. I then thought to myself, "What the hell were you thinking starting a diet the week of Thanksgiving, with all the yummy food and traveling we will be doing?" So, I decided that I will start again on Monday when we get back home and go to the store for healthy food!

Holly's Weight Loss Journey

I know that no one will probably read this blog, since I have a MUCH cuter one devoted to my beloved baby, but I need to write this to keep track and keep myself accountable. I have decided to start a life changing diet. I call it a life changing diet because I want it to be a life changer, something that I can be proud of when Allison gets older. I don't like sitting on the sofa, bored, eating a bag of potato chips just because they are there. I don't like baking cookies because I want one and then an entire bag 3 cookies at a time. I'm ready to change. I don't mind baking cookies or other desserts, but I will give them away. Or at least start counting the calories that I am taking in with each one I eat.

I've decided to start Weight Watchers. I have done it in the past and had good results. I was on it earlier this year and lost 15 pounds and then found out I was pregnant and pretty much gave up on the diet. I figured I would be gaining weight, so why count what I put in my mouth. Well, I was doing rather well. I only gained 25 pounds during pregnancy and the week after I came home from the hospital I weighed in at 5 pounds above my pre-pregnancy weight. I thought I was doing really well, and everyone kept telling me how great I was looking. Well, in the past several weeks it has gotten out of control! I don't like the way I look any more and I'm tired of eating the way I do. I'm also trying to change so when Allison gets older she doesn't eat like I do! I would be so disappointed if she ate half as much as I do!

So here it is. Tomorrow morning I am going to weigh in on our scale. I will weigh in every Monday morning so to keep track of my weight loss. I know this is a bad time to start a diet, the week of Thanksgiving, but I would like to start eating better now so after the holidays I will have a jump start on my diet!

WISH ME LUCK!!!

Happy Valentine's Day

So, I am one of the ones that loves Valentine's Day. I love being pampered and shown how much I am loved and I can't wait to spend more time with my one true Valentine, my husband. We did have a wonderful Valentine's day, which we started on Sunday. We went to church, then home for a quick change, then off to Lenox Square to go shopping and walking around. We then got to spend lots of time together while we were stuck in traffic and then got really close when we were rear-ended! Fortunately there is not a lot of damage, but Chris was irate! I don't understand people sometimes, we were obviously stuck in traffic not going anywhere, when the lady behind us decided that she just wanted to go... so she went into us! She didn't even know she had hit us until Chris flew out of the car like a crazy man! We called the police, but once they arrived we decided not to file a report. The police did verify her insurance and information, so we took that and got her to sign a paper saying that she was responsible and that she would pay for the damages. There were not a lot of damages, just a little scratch, but it has already started to flake, so I am sure that there is going to be more damage there than meets the eye. We will be taking the truck to the dealership in the next few days, so we will see exactly how much damage was done.
So after and hour of doing this, we were on our way. We had piddled around with the idea of going to the shooting range, but after this, we decided that it would be a good way to blow off steam. We were right! It was fun, I had been once before, but this time was better. I was less scared and more ready for what to expect, like the kickback of the gun and the loud shots from all the people around me. I have wanted a revolver for a long time, so I got to try that out... turns out, I don't want one. It was small, but had a big kickback, so it was harder to handle. Chris got a gun that was similar to his, but less power, and I liked that one. I did really good with it, and even shot the target in the heart! Yea! I can actually kill someone within 5 yards of me! I know, it doesn't seem to far away, but it is more difficult than you think. I have to say, there is no better way to say I love you, than to go to a shooting range with him/her. It takes a lot of trust to be there with them and to follow directions and read lips!
So after that, we went to our favorite restaurant... TACO MAC! I do love me some wings from there! Then we went home to the animals and spent some quality time with them. But that's not it. Then Monday comes, VALENTINE'S DAY! Chris took the day off and we got to spend all day watching tv and movies and hanging out. He then had to go out to pick up some things, and to my surprise, brought be back a beautiful bouquet of roses! I do love my husband! We then went to one of our other favorite restaurants, Season's 52. It is a romantic restaurant where everything on the menu is less than 500 calories, so I can feel good about eating! They are so great, I got a roasted Salmon with mixed vegetables and Chris got a Quail breast with sweet potatoes. It was so yummy! I love it! We then drove around, almost went to the movies, but decided not to, and ended up back home with the pets again. I love Valentine's Day! I hope everyone's was as special as mine was!

The Day After

I am sure that everyone is super curious as to how the super bowl was. It was a good game, but that was it. I didn't love the commercials, and the game was all right. I said I was pulling for the Steelers, which I did, but I guess I wasn't pulling hard enough! It did end up being close, and at time I thought they were going to win, but they didn't... too many stupid mistakes (like 3 interceptions)! But, again, it was good. On the personal side of it, I found out yesterday afternoon that no one was coming over! Which ended up being fine because I was tired from all the cooking and cleaning that I was doing, so I didn't feel like hosting, but now we have SO MUCH food! And of course, nothing is healthy, so I feel bad eating it.... even though it is REALLY good! It was also nice staying home with Chris because he had been gone all weekend at some military thing, and then left this morning to go to Washington D.C. for a week. So, it was nice to just be with him! I already miss him and it's only been 3 hours since he left! I can't wait until Thursday to see him again! What's even sadder is that I am not working that much, so I won't be able to distract myself until he comes back! It is going to be a long week! Which just means, that there might be a lot more posts this week than normal! Sorry!

Super Bowl Sunday

Well, it is almost that time of the year! The year where everyone gathers around the television to watch the big game. This is also the only time where I will not be channel surfing during the commercials! I cannot think of any of my favorite commercials, but there have been some good ones, like the bullfrogs and the "Bud-Wei-Ser," or the other Budweiser commercial the mock of the "Wassup" one... "What are you doing? No, what are YOU doing?" I don't really know why I am discussing beer commercials, but I guess that's what my life is up to these days!
I have had the past 2 days off, which is odd for me! I'm used to working about 4-5 days in a row, like having Mon and Sun off. I feel so lazy! Yesterday I literally did nothing all day! I woke up, did dishes, and caught up on all my tv shows! Then made dinner and went to bed! I felt it was justified because of the work week, but it really was a lazy day! Today I decided to be a bit more productive. I got up, watched some tv shows, but then went and cleaned the kitchen and the dining room. We are having everyone over for the Super Bowl, so I felt it was my duty to clean the house a little!
Speaking of the Super Bowl, I think I have finally decided on a menu: Wings, Quesadilla's, a cheese ball, Spinach Dip, and Oatmeal cookies for dessert. I feel like it's not enough, but maybe people will bring some stuff to go with it! I have to say, I love hosting events at our house! I think the best part is that I don't have to drive home afterward, just go straight to bed! I like to save the cleaning until the next day, maybe then Chris can help!
Now the big question is who to root for! Steelers or Packers? Since neither the Falcons or the Colts made it, I am going to have to go for the Steelers. I will have to back my mom for this game. I think there is something that is mentally blocking me from going for the Packers.. I don't know why, but I just can't stand them! So I guess I will update this on Monday, seeing who has one! Have a great weekend and GO STEELERS!

My First Rant

I am calling this one my first, because it is that.... my first... I am sure that there will be PLENTY to follow! Ok, so here it goes! I am was not the best student in school, but I did learn a thing or two whilst I was there. English, in particular, was not my favorite but again, I did well enough to pass and learned some important things.
Number 1, there is no good reason to refer to yourself in the 3rd person; i.e., Holly had such a good today. Now she can relax and watch tv. This goes out to you facebookers! I am throughly annoyed when I see this and it really makes me want to de-friend you!
Number 2, this goes out to all my Southern friends... Y'all is spelled just like that... y'all; not yall and especially not ya'll! Let's break down the word, shall we? The word y'all is a combination of the words "you" and "all" so therefore, y'all would be that, y'all. Ya'll makes no since whatsoever and makes me want to call you out every time I see it!
Number 3, and this is the most important one so listen up. A lot is two words! Alot is not a word and you will not find it in the dictionary! Here's an example: I have a lot to do today, hope I can get it all done. See, it is not that hard to put a space between the 2 letters... and you will save yourself a lot of embarrassment when I call you out on it and make fun of you for not learning that in the 3rd grade!
So, now you know. I was not an English major, but I do have my pet-peeves! Apparently A LOT of them! Thanks to listening to my rant! Have a GREAT day!

The Dreaded Day

I knew it was coming.... I had know for the past month, yet nothing could prepare me for it! INVENTORY! Don't get me wrong, I actually like inventory, a nice break from the everyday hum-ho of work, but I hate, Hate, HATE getting up early, and I had to do it today! I tried to go to bed early last night since I knew I would have to get up at 4am, but it didn't work. Apparently, I had a fear that my alarm wouldn't go off, so my body kept waking me up... EVERY 2 HOURS! So, I went to bed at 8... woke up at 10, 12, 2, and 4! It was actually a relief to get up and stop having to try to go back to sleep. Once I was up, the day was manageable.... I made muffins, which were yummy, and started counting.... everything in the store! It was fun and went by quickly! We were done by noon and then I got to spend the day with my hunny (who took the day off because he was "too sleepy." Ironic, isn't it!). We then went to the grocery store and came home and cooked dinner... I have never felt more like an old married couple than I did today! We ate dinner at 5 and I was in bed by 7 and asleep by 7:15! As you can see now, it's 9 so I guessed I napped more that slept, but I am still exhausted and can't wait to get back to sleep! So, goodnight friends! Love you all!

Welcome to my family!

I have debating for a while whether to start a blog or not, and I decided now is the time! I would like to start by telling a little bit about me... I was born on a cold winter's morning on Jan 3, 1985... not really, I am 26 though and that is my birthday. I am also a newlywed (well at least for another 3 months)! I married my best friend on May 1, 2010 and have been very blessed and happy ever since (yes, we are still in the "honeymoon" period, but I love it and I am trying to stay there for as long as possible)! We have 2 dogs, Canella (the white dog) and Ashlyn (the black dog) and one big kitty, Ling. We will now play a game... who can guess how much kitty weighs! I'll give you a hint... it's more than some dogs!

I would like to welcome everyone to our family. Since this is the first of my posts I will make it short and sweet, but get ready for the upcoming ones. Like I said, I've been pondering over whether to write a blog or not and I have A LOT of ideas built up!
